The information on this map was taken from a copy of a hand drawn map by a prominent resident, Joseph Stone. The original map is in the Massachusetts Archives in Boston. The map was accompanied by several pages of handwritten text that described the boundary lines which are measured in rods from markers, such as a "heap of stones" and a "White Oak tree". Joseph Stone also describes the size of the four small ponds and the two major rivers. The map was drawn as a result of a "Resolve of the Legislature" using a scale of 200 rods to an inch.
