The information on this map was taken from a copy of a map found at the Massachusetts Archives in Boston. It was drawn by Hervey Pierce and was mandated by a "Resolve of the Legislature". A small area of text in the lower right corner of the map describes the makeup of the town's geographical features and occupational uses. At this point in time agriculture is important and small "manufactories" are beginning to appear along the dammed rivers and streams. Pierce describes the rivers as forming the "headwaters of the Blackstone River". |
