Information for the 1898 map was obtained from a map contained in The New Topographic Atlas of Worcester County, Mass published by L.J. Richards and Company of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. While farming and manufacturing are still the primary industries in Auburn at this time, Retail and service businesses are becoming more prevalent as the immigrant population increases. The expanded transportation network of roads and railroads contribute to Auburn becoming a commuter community by this date as well. |
