This map was composed by Cullinan Engineering Corporation. It was used as the standard to configure the other maps in this program. The map shows the current local roads, water bodies and streams, railroads and Interstate highways. Since the 1969 map was composed, Interstate 395 was completed to link I290, the Mass Pike (I90), Route 20, Route 12 and numerous other roads to the national interstate network. This exceptional access that Auburn offers has contributed to growth and changes along many areas, such as Route 12 (Southbridge Street, Route 20 and their surrounding spaces. Auburn has grown from being a small rural community that was primarily agrarian to its present status as a commercial and retail hub.
