Historical Map Series Overview
PRODUCED BY CULLINAN ENGINEERING CORPORATION FOR THE AUBURN HISTORICAL COMMISSION AND THE TOWN OF AUBURN

THESE MAPS WERE DEVELOPED WITH FUNDING FROM A MASSACHUSETTS TURNPIKE TOURISM GRANT

(C) 2003 AUBURN HISTORICAL COMMISSION/TOWN OF AUBURN, MA

The maps you'll see were created from combinations of old maps, historical data, USGA Topography maps, Aerial photographs and many other information sources. Most of the materials were provided by the Auburn Historical Commission through their own research and contributions from many Auburn citizens. The Town of Auburn and the Auburn Historical Commission contracted with Cullinan Engineering Corporation of Auburn, MA to configure a series of maps, using a 2002 map as the standard for accuracy. In their printed form on transparent material, the maps can be overlaid with each other to reveal the changes to the landscape with each subsequent era of development.

Included in this Series are images of the maps that were used to gain the information to create the interactive maps. They are intended to show the viewer what the actual historical materials looked like. While there is some ability to enlarge sections of the original map copies, they can not be viewed with the same clarity as the digitally produced maps. The Auburn Historical Commission did not attempt to edit any of the text contained on the original maps. Therefore, some geographical features and building identifications may seem to be inconsistent.
