Some residents have received telephone calls from electric/energy suppliers attempting to solicit their business. Sometimes the caller indicates that he/she is aware that the resident recently received a letter regarding municipal aggregation. These calls are not affiliated with the Town’s Municipal Aggregation Program!
Please be aware that neither Constellation Energy Power Choice, Inc. (“Constellation”), the energy supplier the Town selected for its Municipal Aggregation Program, nor Colonial Power Group (“Colonial”), the Town’s municipal aggregation consultant, will be initiating calls to residents and businesses to explain the program or their rates.
A letter dated October 31, 2015 (PDF) was mailed on November 4th on behalf of the Town of Auburn to all National Grid basic customers informing them about the Town’s Municipal Aggregation Program, the selection of Constellation as the supplier, and instructions for opting out.
Unless a resident or business contacted Colonial and requested a return phone call, no other calls are being made in regards to this program.
Service Enrollment/Opting Out
We urge residents and businesses to use diligence when receiving solicitation calls from energy suppliers and we recommend that all offers be carefully evaluated before making any decisions as some energy supplier contracts include penalties and fees for early termination. All National Grid basic rate customers in Auburn will be automatically enrolled in the Town’s Municipal Aggregation program with Constellation as the supplier. If you choose to opt out, follow the instructions in the letter (PDF) that was recently mailed to you. Those who have entered into contracts with other suppliers will not be automatically enrolled but can opt into the program (carefully check your current energy supply contract prior to canceling it to ensure there are no fees, fines or penalties for early termination).
If you have any questions, please call Colonial Power at 508-485-5858.
