Opt-in to the Town’s Municipal Aggregation Program!

Municipal Aggregation Program

We would like to remind residents how to opt-in to the Town’s Municipal Aggregation Program should you choose to take advantage of the savings the aggregation will offer this winter, as compared to National Grid’s Basic Service.

To join Auburn’s Program, you can do one of two things:

1.    Visit and click the OPT-IN button, then fill out and submit the Opt-In Form.

2.    Call Dynegy at (866) 220-5696 and ask to join the Town of Auburn’s Program.

For both of the above options, you should have your National Grid bill handy in order to provide some required information.  Enrollments can only be processed on meter reads so it may take one or two billing cycles before taking effect.  If you are currently contracted with your own competitive supplier, you should confirm with them that you will not incur any early termination fees or penalties for leaving their supply.

Residents in Auburn and communities across the State are faced with escalating electric costs which increase household expenses and put a burden on homeowners, families, low-income populations and seniors. Commercial customers are challenged by high electricity costs which are consistently highlighted as a barrier to economic growth in central Massachusetts. Residents and businesses in Auburn and other communities in the Commonwealth have felt the impact of skyrocketing electricity supply costs over the past two winters.

The Town of Auburn’s Municipal Aggregation Plan is designed to address this uncertainty in electricity costs by combining the purchasing power of its residential and commercial customers and by competitively bidding that load on the open market. By combining this purchasing power, the Community Choice Municipal Aggregation Plan enables customers to achieve stability in their electric rates and control their electric costs.

Dynegy is the Town of Auburn’s supplier for the Community Choice Power Supply Program (“Program”). The contract with Dynegy provides Auburn residents and businesses with a fixed electricity supply rate of 10.354 cents ($0.10354) per Kilowatt Hour (kWh) for 36 months starting in June 2019. This rate is 100% renewable, which that the electricity is being supplied through national wind Renewable Energy Credits (RECs) from farms throughout the continental U.S. Residents participating in Auburn’s Municipal Aggregation Program.
