FF Jim Conway


James Conway has been a firefighter with the Auburn Fire Rescue Department since December 4, 1989. He is currently assigned to group 4. He became interested in becoming a firefighter because of his uncle who served on the Worcester Fire Department.

He began his career in Auburn as an Auxiliary Firefighter and went on to obtain the necessary certifications from the firefighter recruit training program to became appointed as a call firefighter on May 1, 1991.

He became certified as an EMT in June of 1993 and worked for a private ambulance company for 5 years serving both Auburn and Worcester. He also worked full time for the Auburn Highway Department from 1999 until 2002 when he became a full time firefighter with the AFRD on February 4, 2002.

He is a graduate of the Massachusetts Fire Fighting Academy (MFA), Career Recruit Training Program Class #152, obtaining Pro Board certification as a Firefighter I/II. He continued his education and became Pro Board certified as a Fire Officer I. He has continued training throughout his career taking classes through the MFA and other outside agencies.

FF Conway has been an intricate part of the departments Driver Training Program for all new hires; he has been assisting with this program for the past 15 years. His goal for the future is to become a fire officer with the department and a member of the motor unit.
