Matt Ethier

Firefighter Ethier began his career as a member of the Auburn Fire Rescue Department in 2000 when he signed on as an Explorer. The Explorer Program, sponsored by the Boy Scouts of America is designed for young kids to explore the fire service and learn what it takes to be a firefighter. During his time in this role, he learned the basic aspects of the job and quickly realized this was his dream job and passion. Firefighter Ethier became a Part-Time/Call firefighter for the department in 2006 after graduating from Auburn High School. In 2009, Firefighter Ethier Attended the Massachusetts Fire Academy Career Recruit Training Program Class #183. Firefighter Ethier was a member of the AFRD until 2015 when he moved to the Cape to pursue a career opportunity as a Superintendent for a construction company. After a short time on the Cape Matt applied for a Volunteer Firefighter position at the West Barnstable Fire Department. He served the Town of West Barnstable for a one year while obtaining his EMT certification in 2017. That same year in 2017 Firefighter Ethier’s childhood dream was realized when he was offered a full-time position with the AFRD, beginning his career on August 8, 2017 as a member of Group 1.
